Welcome to Southern!

Start your Saluki journey off right by attending the 2010 Week of Welcome activities presented by New Student Programs and the entire SIUC campus and Carbondale community.

WOW 2010 will begin with Move-In.  When you arrive on campus, you will be greeted by hundreds of volunteers ranging from current SIUC students, faculty and staff, to community members, there to assist you and your family.  Specially trained student leaders, known as Student Life Advisors, will be present throughout WOW 2010 to help students and families make the transition to SIUC go as smoothly as possible.  These students will not only meet you at the curb and help you move your belongings in to the Residence Halls, they will also be there to provide guidance and support to students throughout the first few weeks of classes.

The SIUC campus and Carbondale Community provide multiple activities to welcome students to campus.  Some examples of activities are:

  • Campus Welcome Stations
  • Academic Orientation Programs
  • New Student Welcome Fest
  • University Housing Area Picnics
  • Meet Me on Main with Carbondale Main Street
  • Hypnotist with University Programming Office
  • College class tours
  • Free film with Student Programming Council
  • Student Center Open House
